Ashly grew up in Alajuelita, a place full of violence, drug addiction, and prostitution. She was able to learn about God from a very early age from the missionary groups that 6:8 brought to her neighborhood. Some of her fondest childhood memories are playing with team members as they taught her God’s Word. At one of her lowest points, it was a group of missionaries that helped her return to God. She began working with the ministry in 2017, cooking and cleaning the team house, and worked her way up to serving as the Director of the Child Sponsorship Program.
After living in Alajuelita for 20 years. Ashly was called to Horquetas de Sarapiqui to become the Children’s Ministry Director, where she led El Pozo, our children’s discipleship program. When it started, there were only about five children; over the next three years, God allowed her to grow it to more than 150 children. It was in Horquetas that Ashly met her husband, Johan, and her two stepchildren, Jeremy “JJ” and Greychell. Ashly and Johan were married in the summer of 2024, and, soon after, God placed a new calling on their family: to help launch the ministry’s expansion in Jaco. Currently, Ashly and her family play a crucial role in repairing the team house and finding ministry opportunities in Jaco as we prepare to launch the new location.
“Trying to form our family has been quite a challenge but a beautiful challenge that I know will bear good fruit, that is why with great respect we ask you to keep us in your prayers and consider helping us provide for our family and continue this beautiful ministry. Any prayer or financial support you can send to our family is greatly appreciated.”
